On a normal day of London press briefings we are like mini tornadoes ripping through the streets of the capital city – so when we were joined by BBC Apprentice Finalist Saira Khan and had a live TV interview, five radio interviews, an internal launch event and press briefings to attend – you can imagine the path we left in our wake.
Tasked with launching a highly innovative new Apprenticeship scheme for client Mitchells & Butlers, our approach was three pronged. We needed to get the company’s employees excited about recruiting and nurturing the future generation of managers, we needed to make some media noise and we wanted to recognise the company’s success by rewarding some of its current apprentices.
So what did we do? We got the inspirational business woman, and BBC Apprentice Finalist, Saira Khan on board as our media spokesperson and she was accompanied by M&B apprentice Louisa Hurrell – and together they conquered London’s media houses and spread the word of the great scheme to regional radio and TV stations up and down the UK.
What was next? In true Apprentice style we hopped in a cab (phone in hand, Yellow Pages sadly missing) and zoomed across to Browns Brasserie and Bar in Covent Garden for an internal launch event, where we recruited our favourite film crew HTF Media to create six videos for corporate, editorial and digital media use.
The end result? Louisa was a star for the day but is now back in her admirable day job working in the busy kitchen at The Green Man Vintage Inn in Longfield. Saira went on to pen a poignant article in the Daily Mail followed by a red carpet event. As for the spottydog team, we just got straight back on the dog and bone to secure some more coverage opportunities for the pioneering new scheme, which any young’uns unsure of what to do for a career should take a peek at here.
