Raise a glass to raise some funds…

by spottydog communications |

With Armed Forces Day fast approaching on the 27th June, we here at spottydog HQ have been working with Crown Carveries, Sizzling Pubs and O’Neill’s to spread the word on an uplifting fundraising campaign.

The three pub chains are hoping to do great things by adopting a three-tiered fundraising idea to support the great work of Help for Heroes. It all started last year when they chose to stock Help for Heroes wine in all of their restaurants and in this way, patrons have really been able to raise a glass to the success of raising a combined total of £45,000 so far!

In their quest to #SaluteOurForces this year, they will also be running fundraising activities in their individual restaurants, which will continue the good work of our Armed Forces and Help for Heroes, so make sure you check your local pub for what’s on. The other great news is that each restaurant now accepts the Defence Discount Service Card, which allows members of the armed forces community, including spouses and veterans, 10% off their food bill.

This campaign has an enormous emphasis on community spirit and support, and we’ve been reaching out to local and regional publications across the country with incredibly positive results. Whoever said community spirit was dead, certainly hasn’t spoken to The Plymouth Herald!

Not only has this project spurred me on to improved my geography knowledge (!), but I still find it amazing that a key part of my job involves speaking with people who love their local community and are passionate about spreading interesting and relevant news to their readers.

Our work continues and whilst I’m hitting the phones, whether you’re sitting down for lunch with friends, or enjoying the sunshine after work, raise a glass and raise some funds for a worthwhile cause.
