It’s safe to say it’s been a busy few years for Leicester – from the unlikely discovery of one of History’s most famous monarchs under a carpark, to the even more unlikely tale of Leicester’s 5000-1 premier league win this week. Leicester seems to have done the impossible and gone from the ultimate underdog to the nation’s sweetheart, storming national news channels and becoming a household name across the world.
But if you’re not familiar with Leicester yourself, we invite you warmly to Jamie Vardy’s party with a rundown of reasons why you too should start backing the blues.
1. Sport – From the Foxes, to the Tigers, Leicester is now known for its sporting prowess. Backed up by impressive improvements to its sporting facilities and stadiums, Leicester is definitely one to watch when it comes to sport across the board. Did I mention a Leicester lad is the snooker world champion as of this week too?
2. Pubs and restaurants – With our client base boasting names like Harvester and Miller & Carter, it’s no surprise we’re swayed by a good pub and a good pint – and Leicester is not a city you should underestimate on its wining and dining merits. Hot on the heels of the UK’s biggest cities, the last few years alone has seen Leicester open a Cosy Club, Turtle Bay, TGI Fridays, Five Guys, Crafty Burger and Krispy Kreme (much to our delight) – so it’s safe to say you’ll be well catered for here! And don’t even get us started on our curry credentials.
3. The Cultural Quarter – Boasting a hat trick of top networking events, independent businesses and sell out stage shows, Leicester’s Cultural Quarter is a buzzing place for talent and opportunity. As well as our friends at Sixtynine Degrees and Dluxe setting up home there, there’s also The Curve venue playing host to the biggest theatre productions, and a host of stunning cocktail and wine bars (I told you we’re obsessed with wining and dining), all in all making for a fabulous hub of talent and exciting activity to get involved in!
4. Two amazing Universities – Leicester is a breeding ground for new talent with super talented language, PR, media and marketing graduates coming through each year for us to snap up. We work closely with both DMU and the University of Leicester, doing talks to inspire the next generation of PR professionals and offering great internship and job shadowing opportunities, meaning we only sign up the very best new local talent to our team.
So there you have it, as we approach the final whistle, it’s fair to say that Leicester has just been put firmly on the map, and is now kicking it with the best of them when it comes to city cool credentials in the UK.
