Sometimes it can feel like the world never stops, especially when you’re in the world of PR and comms, so one way our pups love to unwind is with a podcast. Not only can they provide the perfect accompaniment to your morning commute, but podcasts are also a great way to learn new things or deepen your understanding of a certain topic.
Podcasts cover a range of topics: one day you might be listening to a podcast about a celebrity’s dream dinner party menu and the next you could be delving into the world of true crime. Or if you’re anything like us, nothing gets your ears more excited than a podcast covering PR, social media and marketing.
In 2022, we created our first-ever spottypod playlist, packed with all the essentials for PR and comms professionals — and now we’re bringing you a round-up of our favourite episodes, plus series to look out for in 2023.
Some of our favourite podcasts for PR and comms professionals…

What it covers: Global brand leader and Nike’s former Chief Marketing Officer Hoffman lets us in on his marketing secrets, including the techniques of storytelling, the role of emotion in marketing, and work culture truths.
Why we love it: Hoffman offers a unique perspective on our industry, and the way he draws upon his own personal experiences makes it a really engaging and emotional listen. If you want a flavour of the wisdom Hoffman offers throughout the podcast, here’s one of our favourite lines: “Connect what you sell with what the world needs”.
Podcast Name: Girls In Marketing

Podcast Name: CEO Stories
Episode: Rachel Roberts | People, resilience, dog puns and David Beckham
What it covers: We couldn’t collate a podcast playlist without including our very own founder and CEO, Rachel Roberts! Our top dog tells her story of transitioning from a career in the army to becoming a successful PR practitioner, as well as discussing the importance of mental resilience in the workplace.
Why we love it: We may be biased, but Rachel’s podcast is a joy for the ears, packed with fun anecdotes and insightful discussions. A storyteller at heart, we love how Rachel uses her own experiences to share wisdom that will help comms professionals across the world.
Podcast Name: TED Talks Daily
Episode: How to write less but say more | Jim VandeHei
What it covers: This series is full of thought-provoking discussions in the form of bitesize snippets, and this particular episode covers the important art of brevity when crafting copy for today’s busy world.
Why we love it: Writing is a fundamental part of what we do as comms professionals, so this podcast is great for learning about how to create attention-grabbing copy and how to cut through in a distracted digital world.
