Just taken a sales call from PR software company who is encouraging me to use their automated press release service. When I explained I do not use an auto news feed, but instead phone up journalists and actually speak to them the enthusiastic sales guy nearly fell off his chair. ‘So you actually call media contacts do you?’ he asked in surprise. ‘Yes’ I said. ‘Call me old fashioned, but I believe a key part of media relations is to actually have relationships.’
Now back to my typewriter and fax machine.
