The Latest Leicester Lass to Join the Pack

by spottydog communications |

Well, as the latest pup to join the spottydog pack, it’s time for me to write my first blog! For starters, I think I’d better introduce myself…

I’m Asha and although I was born and bred in Leicester, I’ve spent the last 18 months living and working in Surrey. After gaining lots of experience working in B2B Tech PR – and learning how to perfect a southern accent! – I found myself missing life in Leicester and being surrounded by my family and friends. I started looking for PR opportunities in the Midlands and I was lucky enough to find the spottydog team based in Leicestershire advertising for the position I was looking for at the right time!

I studied Modern Languages with Management (Spanish and French) at the University of Leicester and I was shown the world of PR by a career advisor. Experience built in my part-time job and chatting up Spanish people clearly meant that I loved talking, meeting and building relationships with new people – very useful when it comes to building both client and media relations.

Fast forward 18 months, it’s been a busy first week for me moving back to Leicester and starting at spottydog. The Easter bank holiday weekend couldn’t have come at a better time, giving me the chance to unpack and settle in! My first day was great, within the first five minutes I was welcomed not just by the team but also by Nelson and Zac, two gorgeous dogs who were wondering who the new face in the office was!

My second day was jam packed! It was team building day held in the Birmingham office, so it was a brilliant opportunity to meet the whole spottydog clan. All I can say is everyone is great bunch of laughs! Being locked in a room at Escape Live Birmingham with my new colleagues followed by a team dinner at O’Neill’s was definitely a great way to get to know everyone! Playing detective in the ‘Dr Wilson’s Office’ escape room for an hour trying to figure out who the murderer was felt as if we were part of Cluedo, but I am quite glad I wasn’t with the other team as all we kept hearing were screams from their horror-themed ‘Room 13’ escape room!

What I love about spottydog communications is the portfolio of clients they manage. Coming from a purely B2B space, it will be exciting for me to work across both B2B and B2C sectors. As it’s a small agency, there’s a great opportunity to learn and further develop my skills. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with all the different aspects that spottydog has to offer, such as digital, marketing and social communications, as it’s much more than a PR agency!
