spottydog communications is an award-winning Communications Consultancy responsible for delivering PR, social media engagement and digital content activity for a host of great consumer, business and public sector clients.
We’re now on the look-out to welcome our next intake of new pups to join our pack as part of our Graduate training programme.
We’re looking for Graduates or those with degree equivalent experience who share our Pedigree People commitment to delivering best of breed communications and in return we’ll offer the career opportunity to work with our brilliant team and amazing clients. Across our 12 year history spottydog has developed a strong reputation for supporting the next generation of talent, together with recognition from the National Undergraduate Employability Awards for being a Top 10 UK SME Employer for graduates.
Our Graduate programme will put you through your paces to give you the practical experience working on client campaigns as well as helping to develop workplace practice skills like time management, project management, communications skills and working as part of team.
As a communications consultancy the variety of work we deliver on behalf of our clients is huge, so our Graduate programme will provide a great first taste of life working within a busy and dynamic agency environment. On a day-to-day basis this might include engaging with the media & influencers, copywriting, managing social media activity, planning and managing paid media / PPC campaigns, carrying out SEO audits, helping to organise events, creating design and digital content collateral, delivering e-marketing activity, managing website content, managing projects and providing updates to our lovely clients.
To be successful you’ll need to have sharp copywriting skills, a strong interest in current affairs, a creative mind, pay good attention to detail and good knowledge of the media landscape. Whilst a media, marketing, digital, communications or journalism degree is an advantage, we regularly recruit new team members with more generalist degrees, but we would want to see evidence that you have already done your homework or have some work experience to demonstrate that you understand the dynamics of working in our industry.
Maintaining our vibrant workplace culture, as well as fostering an environment to support learning and development means spottydog comes together as a team to operate from our Birmingham city centre workspace on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with the option of remote working outside of our core days.
With a pet friendly office you’ll need to like dogs or our office dogs Lottie & Zac will be upset, as will some of our lovely pet sector clients. We’re not just barking – as well as working with our ‘pet projects’ we work with clients within the technology, home interest, healthcare, professional services and leisure sectors, so experience or an interest in these areas would enable you to hit the ground running.
We’ll make no apologies that our internship selection process is challenging. We’re not looking for Graduates to make our coffee and do our admin, we’re looking for a pup that wants to build their career with us and share our passion for creating best of breed communications delivered by pedigree people.
The closing date for applications is Friday 22nd April, with first stage online interviews scheduled 25 April – 6 May and final interviews w/c 16 May with a view to the role starting in June. All initial applications received will be scored based on the criteria outlined within the specification of the role outlined here, with a short list of ten candidates invited for first stage interview and five candidates selected for final interview where we may offer more than one person.
Our Graduate training programme is salaried at Living Wage for the first six months, with a salary review undertaken at the end of this period when you will be re-evaluated against our competency grading scale where your package will be adjusted accordingly.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds so our team can be as representative as the community we serve. If you’re not sure if this could be the right role for you, do get in touch, we’d be happy to answer any questions that might hold you back from applying. Otherwise to be considered please send your CV and covering letter to talent@spottydogcommunications.com telling us why you want to be our next top dog.
